A Tennessee man who was jailed for three decades for a crime he didn’t commit has finally received his compensation. Lawrence McKinney, 61, was exonerated after spending almost half his life in prison after DNA evidence got his rape and burglary conviction overturned.

Counts added it is "beyond words" what he went through.

"This kept going on, going on. It was a like a locomotive train," he said.

Perry, who served 12 years, was slapped with a probation sentence for refusing to register as a sex offender when he got out of prison.

"I didn't want to register for something I didn't do,” he said.

"This wrongful conviction destroyed my life.”
