What's in those seized records? Trump's biggest new worry

What's in those seized records? Trump's biggest new worry President Donald Trump and his allies have hit a new level of anxiety after the raid on his personal attorney's office. There is also some worry that Michael Cohen, the self-described legal fixer who helped make bad stories go away and took a leading role in Trump Organization projects in foreign outposts, may strike a deal with prosecutors out of concern about his own prospects.

The morning after he fired James Comey as the director of the FBI, President Donald Trump fired off several tweets defending his decision and criticizing Democrats for questioning the move.

President Trump issued a fresh denial Sunday that he asked former FBI director James Comey to halt an investigation into the conduct of dismissed national security adviser Michael Flynn. ‘I never asked Comey to stop investigating Flynn’: Trump goes on tweetstorm about the FBI. Share via e-mail.

Trump’s tweet storm comes ahead of a highly anticipated interview with Comey on ABC News to be broadcast on Sunday night. Comey will discuss his memoir, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership,” which is scheduled for release on Tuesday.

Comey, who ran the Federal Bureau of Investigations for almost four years, portrays the president in the book as a liar, dumb and rude, and he compares elements of Trump’s behavior to that of a Mafia boss.

‘Uncomfortable’ Dinner

The thought of having dinner alone with Trump at the White House made Comey “deeply uncomfortable,” he writes in the book, because he feared that the president wanted to compromise the FBI’s integrity and independence and was waging “an effort to establish a patronage relationship” with him.

The many things Trump didn’t accomplish in the latest Syria strike

The many things Trump didn’t accomplish in the latest Syria strike Trump hailed the success of a punitive strike on Assad's forces, but most onlookers are unimpressed.Despite rumblings of a more sustained air campaign against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the strike echoed the one-off bombardment Trump ordered one year ago. That attack also followed an alleged chemical-weapons attack, but what was meant to chasten the Assad regime and its allies at the time did nothing of the sort.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday that Comey has a “credibility problem” and that firing him will go down as one of Trump’s greatest achievements. Sunday, on ABC’s “This Week,” she said it was clear that Comey was a “leaker” by his own admission and “there is such a huge bipartisan consensus that James Comey doesn’t have credibility and shouldn’t have been leading the FBI any longer.”

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Sunday that Comey is a man of integrity “as far as I know,” while adding that “I don’t know the guy.”
