  'Grandaddy of techno' Pierre Henry dies at 89 French electronic composer Pierre Henry -- whose music inspired the theme tune of the American animated television series "Futurama" -- has died at the age of 89, his assistant said Thursday. Known as the "grandfather of techno", Henry's "Psyche Rock" riff was used in the Oscar-winning Costa-Gavras film "Z" (1969) and later remixed by British DJ Fatboy Slim for the 2004 Lindsay Lohan film "Mean Girls".French electronic music star Jean-Michel Jarre led the tributes to Henry, who he said had opened the way for his own music."He wasn't just a musician and an innovator, he was a poet.

Donald Trump hailed "stronger than ever" links with France as he attended a Bastille Day parade in Paris amid heightened security.

The US President and his wife, Melania, sat on the Champs-Elysees in the French capital for Friday's military display.

French President Emmanuel Macron had invited Mr Trump to join him for his first Bastille Day celebration since being elected in May - viewed as a sign the youthful leader is trying to position himself as the bridge between Europe and America.

Mr Trump wrote: "Great evening with President @EmmanuelMacron & Mrs. Macron. Went to Eiffel Tower for dinner. Relationship with France stronger than ever."

The Bastille Day procession was opened by American troops, with the French national celebration also this year marking the 100th anniversary of America's entry into the First World War.

On Thursday, Mr Trump and Mr Macron agreed to work on a post-war road map for Syria, where both are involved in bombing Islamic State jihadists.

Striking images from Paris this week offered signs of how Europe's de-facto leadership has started to mutate in the two months since Macron took office. The 39-year-old French president welcomed US President Donald Trump to Paris for dinner in the Eiffel Tower and the traditional July 14 military parade.The smiles and glad-handing between the two men contrasts starkly with Trump's dour relationship with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
