The 21-year-old hurt his knee in the Rebels' Super Rugby win over the Blues on Saturday, ruling him out of this month's Test series against Ireland.

The Rebels announced on Tuesday that scans confirmed he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, with Uelese scheduled for surgery this Thursday.

Rebels general manager Nick Ryan said the news was disappointing, with Uelese's season already interrupted by a shoulder injury.

"Jordan's injury is incredibly disappointing for everyone involved, but foremost for Jordan," Ryan said.

The Wallabies are yet to name a replacement in the Test squad for Uelese, who will also miss the Rugby Championship and the end-of-season northern hemisphere tour.
