Parramatta five-eighth Corey Norman has described the club’s culture as the “best it’s ever been” as the struggling Eels attempt to keep their season alive against the Warriors on Friday.

The Eels started the season as one of the favourites to win the premiership but a series of surprise losses and off season dramas has the club anchored to the bottom of the table.

Parramatta chairman Max Donnelly said the club’s culture was entitled to be questioned after Kenny Edwards was stood down indefinitely over a driving charge but Norman disagreed.

These cultural components, while not an exhaustive list, comprise the bulk of cultural activities and practices of interest to cultural sociologists. Keywords Cultural Relativism; Culture ; Immaterial Objects; Material Objects; Mores; Norms ; Roles; Society; Values.

One of my favorite team culture descriptions comes from Richard Perrin: “Organizational Culture is the sum of values and rituals which serve as ‘glue’ to integrate the members of an organization.”

“I think it’s the best it’s ever been,” Norman told 2KY’s Big Sports Breakfast.

“We’ve had previous years where we’ve been in trouble off field and all that sort of stuff, and I think this is the best we’ve ever been culture-wise around the club.

“That’s why it’s so frustrating because people are coming out and talking about our culture, and we’ve worked so hard over the last couple of years to build a winning culture, and a good culture.

“At the moment, we’re all throwing that away.”

Kevin Dutton’ s new best-seller rehashes Norman Mailer’ s ideas on deviance, but it leaves out Jewish men. By Ann Marlowe. There’ s more than a whiff here of the valorization of the psychopath as an alternative to corrupted, commercialized culture that Mailer drew upon.

Norman dismissed Edwards’ charge for driving without a license – which he concealed from the club for two weeks, as an incident rather than indicative of the team’s culture.

“We can’t change what Kenny’s done, that’s on Kenny,” Norman said.

“It’s not like everyone’s doing that. That’s a decision Kenny made, that’s what he’s done and you can’t put that back to the culture here.

“Absolutely not.”

Parramatta faces the Warriors at ANZ Stadium on Friday night in a match the club must win if they want to keep their season alive.

The Eels are only on four points and cannot afford too many more losses if they want to keep their fading hopes alive of making the top eight.

“We’ve got to be aggressive and we need a good start,” Norman said.

“The last couple of weeks our starts have been very poor, letting a team get a start against us and we can’t afford to do that against the Warriors.
