Ricky Stuart: Josh Papalii-Jai Arrow Queensland Origin speculation is disrespectful

Ricky Stuart: Josh Papalii-Jai Arrow Queensland Origin speculation is disrespectful He dropped Josh Papalii reserve grade earlier this season – but Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has declared Gold Coast Titans young gun Jai Arrow isn’t on Papalii’s level as the pair battle for a spot in Queensland’s side for next month’s Origin opener. Papalii was one of Canberra’s best in the 32-18 win over the Titans at GIO Stadium on Saturday, while Arrow failed to finish the match. The young Titan vomited during a fitness test and was taken to hospital after suffering abdominal and rib pain during an attempted tackle on Junior Paulo in the first half.

After locking in those five Dragons , Johns said he would also guarantee places to Melbourne's try-scoring machine Josh Addo - Carr , NSW skipper Boyd Cordner and Manly young gun Jake Trbojevic .

Nick Cotric is only young and wouldn’t let anyone down. Selections: Tom Trbojevic and Josh Addo - Carr . Centres Josh Dugan and Jarryd Hayne are the incumbents and both should be overlooked.

Penrith Panthers favourite Ryan Girdler has revealed the NSW team he would pick to take on the Maroons in game one of State of Origin come June 6 in Melbourne.

Due to St George-Illawarra's dominant form, Girdler went with five Red V players in the starting side, and one more to potentially come into the side if Wade Graham can't prove his fitness.

Manly Sea Eagles gun Tom Trbojevic was overlooked, as well as Josh Dugan and James Roberts.

There is speculation that Brad Fittler will pick a somewhat young side to shake-up the Blues' fortunes, which has yielded just one series victory since 2006.

CRONULLA’S five State of Origin players have been named to back up, but there is a late switch in the forwards. Raiders: 1. Jack Wighton 2. Nick Cotric 3. Jarrod Croker (c) 4. Joseph Leilua 5. Jordan Rapana 6. Blake Austin 7. Aidan Sezer 8. Junior Paulo 9. Josh Hodgson 10.

Winger Blake Ferguson will be under plenty of pressure from the likes of Manly young gun Trbojevic , Melbourne’s Josh Addo - Carr , Canberra youngster Nick Cotric and others to keep his spot in the side.

Girdler certainly picked a younger team, with just seven of his 18 players picked playing Origin football previously.

“(James) Tedesco fullback, (Josh) Addo-Carr and (Nick) Cotric on the wings,” Girdler told Triple M.

“(Euan) Aitken and Latrell Mitchell in the centres.

“(James) Maloney at six, (Nathan) Cleary at seven.

“(Paul) Vaughan, (Cameron) McInnes, (Reagan) Campbell-Gillard, (Boyd) Cordner, (Tyson) Frizell, Jack de Belin starts at 13.

“(Damien) Cook on the bench with (David) Klemmer, Jake Trbojevic and Wade Graham, and if he’s not right, Tariq Sims.

“That’s what Freddy’s going to bring (a changing of the guard). He’s going to bring some fresh faces in, some people that are in good club form. Some combinations are key there, that’s why I’ve gone for the four Dragons through the middle, that’s why I started de Belin and not Trbojevic.

“Cook will definitely get a run later on in the half. In the backs, Addo-Carr’s form you can’t deny. Cotric is just a superstar coming through, he’s a big aggressive guy.

“At the moment, Tedesco’s probably not the James Tedesco we know, but he’s played Origin before.

“We’re going to see Aitken vs (Greg) Inglis tomorrow, but they’ve had some good battles already this year. Latrell Mitchell in left centre position, he doesn’t get a lot of football at the Roosters, but when he gets it he certainly does a lot with it.

State of Origin: Matthew Johns analyses the favourites for every NSW position The race is getting tighter, but Johns has revealed who has their noses in front. Two weeks.

Matt Moylan will miss a second-straight match with a knee injury, with Trent Hodkinson (No.19) to Storm: 1 Billy Slater, 2 Suliasi Vunivalu, 3 Will Chambers, 4 Curtis Scott, 5 Josh Addo - Carr , 6 Raiders: 1 Jack Wighton, 2 Nick Cotric , 3 Jarrod Croker (c), 4 Joseph Leilua, 5 Jordan Rapana, 6

State of Origin . Tom Trbojevic . Cotric is a winger. Pick in position, we have had players out of position at centre forf too long. 1. Tedesco 2. Cotric 3. Aitken 4. Croker 5. T. Trbojevic 6. Maloney 7. Brooks 8. Vaughan 9. Cook 10.

“Freddy’s got the mindset of building a future for NSW and investing in these guys and getting them in the system.

“Back up for Cleary would be (Luke) Keary. Mitchell Moses probably isn’t doing enough at the moment. We need a runner at six, Maloney’s a runner and so’s Cleary.

“(James Roberts) plays right, so it would be Aitken or Roberts. I took James into consideration, but how can you deny the form of Euan Aitken, especially in big games and that matchup with GI. He’s a confident kid, and while he’s in this rich vein of form, it’s his time.”

Wendell Sailor, a dominant Maroons winger in his side, was impressed with Girdler's team.

"That's virtually the team I would have picked," Sailor said.
