Sam Burgess has taken a thinly-veiled swipe at Josh Morris, claiming the Bulldogs winger was “trying to get a career in Hollywood” based on his reaction to copping an elbow to the throat from the South Sydney firebrand.

Burgess is preparing to make a comeback for the Rabbitohs in this weekend’s match against the Raiders, but was apparently not willing to let bygones be bygones after his two weeks on the sidelines.

The NRL judiciary rubbed the Bunnies big man out for a fortnight, after his elbow came into contact with Morris’ neck during Souths’ 20-16 win over the Bulldogs in Round 4.

In his absence, Souths have had mixed results, suffering a 16-12 loss to the Dragons, before putting their old foes, the Roosters, to the sword 26-14.

Of particular note during the past two weeks have been the performances of Burgess’ younger brothers, twins Tom and George, who have really stepped up to lead the pack in the absence of their older sibling, and Burgess expressed his desire to get back on the field.

"It's tough obviously watching from the sidelines but I'm proud of the team and their efforts in the two games," he said.

Burgess will face the Canberra Raiders on his return and was wary of the side that is coming off two consecutive wins.

"We'll have to be good. They've obviously got some big boys through the middle and their halves have been taking the line on," Burgess said.

"It'll be a good challenge for us up there in Central Coast."
