The Masters are set to be broadcast on Nine from tomorrow morning and in the lead-up the AFL Footy Show sent Newman to the States as a roving reporter visiting some of America's most iconic tourist stops en route to Georgia. It was during one of his stopovers filming in LA where he copped a heavy knock from a spiral staircase while staying at the Ramada hotel in West Hollywood. The incident caused a gash on his head.

'I did get pain in my neck but thought to myself it was a nerve thing and the pain would go away and it would get better,' he said.

The 29-year-old, whose injury will not end his career, is expected to sit out on the sidelines for the next three months.
