"We are not an awards show protest group," Wrinkle in Time director Ava DuVernay explained to reporters at a meeting for the media in Los Angeles this week. "So we stand down this time.

Sydney are already looming as a strong example for why mid-season player movement should be introduced. As the Bulldogs and Tigers have proven, the ability to think outside the box can be just as effective as, if not more so than, a stopgap.

Thinking that you must act outside the box is also a box . My colleagues and I worked with a Fortune Global 50 company that had come up with a revolutionary change to Spending a little time thinking inside competitors’ boxes revealed that the revolution would trigger the equivalent of nuclear war.

There is an air of inevitability surrounding the prospect of an AFL mid-season trade period or draft, or both, being introduced sometime in the near future.

Player movement in the middle of a season could even be a reality this year.

Comments made by league chief Gill McLachlan and his football operations manager Steve Hocking during the week certainly didn’t quell speculation.

McLachlan is keen to expedite the list rebuild of struggling clubs as much as possible.

“If you're at the bottom now, to get back to competing for a flag is a long period of time,” he said.

What struck me was a disconnect between the “ revolution ” and the election that had just occurred. The U.S. equivalent is the looming dropout from this fall’s elections by many who campaigned ardently for Barack Obama Part 1: Thinking outside the box . Part 2: Correcting Canada’s democratic deficit.

Thinking outside of the box is a phrase people throw around without knowing how to actually do it . Thinking outside the box simply means to approach a problem or an idea from a different perspective than the majority.

Hocking remarked: “If Gill had his way, it would be potentially this year.”

The ability of clubs loaning players, as they do in world soccer, hasn’t been ruled out either.

Emma Watson debuts tattoo... with a glaring error Emma Watson has shown a permanent commitment to the Time's Up movement as she debuted a tattoo with the words at the Oscars. But people were quick to notice that the actress and UN ambassador was missing a vital punctuation mark from the inking - an apostrophe.Instead of reading "Time's Up", Ms Watson's tattoo says "Times Up".Some have questioned whether the tattoo is real, or simply a temporary piece to make a statement.Others backed her decision to get rid of the apostrophe, with one tweeter suggesting it would look "weird just floating there".

In our Box the player on the draw has the choice of lands they want. Unlike Constructed, there are few unbeatable curves, and because the cards in your Box should be similar in power level, mulliganing happens a lot less than you think .

You might have heard about thinking outside the box . The box represents your habitual mind and thinking outside it means thinking in newer ways or thinking outside the boundaries of the conventional mind.

When you add the possibility of live trading on national draft night to the mix, player movement is headed for a dramatic revolution hot on the heels of the advent of free agency.

The AFL’s desire to make it easier than ever before for players to switch clubs is strong and, for the most part, it will have a positive impact on the game.

Players languishing on a list starved of senior footy opportunities won’t have to wait until the end of the season to potentially revitalise their career. Under the new proposals it can happen much quicker.

The average AFL career only lasts roughly six seasons so players deserve the right to try and extend their time at the top as long as possible.

Sydney are already looming as a strong example for why mid-season player movement should be introduced. With Sam Naismith (knee) out for the year and Kurt Tippett retiring, Callum Sinclair is the only available experienced ruckman on their list. Coach John Longmire would undoubtedly achieve peace of mind by being able to bolster his dwindling ruck stocks in round 12.

There are so many options to choose from, so don’t be shy! Think outside of the box and spice things up a bit – we’re sure you’ll find toys and ways to bring yourself to a whole new level of pleasure.

People often speak about thinking outside the box , but how do you really do it ? What does it mean to be limited to inside the box as opposed to being outside ? The key is to define the box in any given situation and then to seek alternative

However, as beneficial as mid-season trading might be for both players and clubs, there is also something special about seeing clubs getting creative and using their ingenuity to deal with injuries to key players.

The last two premierships have been built on improvisation and trying new things.

Would Richmond have won the flag last year if they brought in a key forward from another club to replace Ben Griffiths?

Griffiths’ long-term absence due to concussion led the Tigers to try something different by using just one key forward (Jack Riewoldt) and a mosquito fleet of small forwards equipped with manic pressure and intensity.

As we all know, that game plan tweak worked wonders. It remains to be seen whether it would have been as effective with two big key forwards getting in the way and taking up space in the forward 50.

The Bulldogs were cruelled by injury in their premiership year.© AAP The Bulldogs were cruelled by injury in their premiership year. And how about the Western Bulldogs in 2016? It’s hard to think of a premiership team who had to overcome more personnel issues than Luke Beveridge’s men two years ago.

Injury forced Robert Murphy (24 games), Jack Redpath (nine), Marcus Adams (15), Clay Smith (11), Tom Boyd (eight), Toby McLean (10), Jason Johannisen (nine), Mitch Wallis (nine), Easton Wood (six), Tom Liberatore (five), Luke Dahlhaus (five), Jack Macrae (four) and Tory Dickson (four) to miss big chunks of the season.

Yet Beveridge’s courage to continually tinker and experiment in the face of adversity, and his philosophy of each player needing to be able to play at least two positions, created enormous flexibility within his team and, ultimately, an irresistible force which propelled the Dogs to glory on grand final day.

So while the idea of mid-season player movement is on the whole a good thing, hopefully it doesn’t serve as a cop-out completely and lead clubs to automatically bring in reinforcements if hit badly by injury.

As the Bulldogs and Tigers have proven, the ability to think outside the box can be just as effective as, if not more so than, a stopgap.
