It is believed to be the first known complaint about sexually inappropriate behaviour during an official AFL game. The AFL dealt with the matter last week, in the days following the GWS versus Adelaide game at Blacktown in Sydney on February 25, which ended in a dramatic draw.

Sources said that the Adelaide player believed her GWS opponent had "crossed the line'' with a combination of lewd words and touching on the backside.

The AFL's integrity unit spoke to both players, but sources said the fact that the Crows player did not wish to take it further – nor to have her opponent punished – meant there was no punitive action taken, such as a fine, suspension or official reprimand.

It is unclear whether there were any witnesses to the alleged incident that could back up either player's version.

There was no mediation between the two players either.

The AFL declined to comment when contacted about the alleged incident on Thursday evening, saying that it was league policy not to comment on integrity matters.

GWS chief operating officer James Avery said the club would not comment on the matter.

"It's for the AFL," Avery said.

The Crows also declined to comment.
