Australia aims for global domination of medicinal cannabis market

Australia aims for global domination of medicinal cannabis market Australia's fledgling medicinal cannabis market is about to get a big boost, with the Federal Government to allow exports of cannabis-based medicines. The move aims to create a bigger market for locally produced medicines so that there is a more stable and secure supply for Australian patients. It is also a shrewd business move, with ambitions for Australia to become the biggest producer of medicinal cannabis products in the world."This is actually a very important step for our domestic patients and our domestic supply," Health Minister Greg Hunt said.

Joe Denly plans on making sure his only four games for the Sydney Sixers this summer won't be his last appearances in the Big Bash League.

Denly starred in his first game for the club on Saturday night, setting up their win with 42 off 29 at the top of the order as they claimed their first win of the season over the Thunder.

Winless in their first six games, the Sixers' finals hopes were long gone by the time Denly arrived as a replacement player for Jason Roy and Sam Billings.

Samsung adds another ally in its battle over HDR standards

Samsung adds another ally in its battle over HDR standards This isn't exactly taking it back to the days of HD-DVD vs. Blu-ray, but Samsung's fight to push HDR10+ as an alternative to Dolby Vision is heating up. While Dolby Vision been licensed by many TV manufacturers, Samsung isn't one of them and has chosen instead to push HDR10+ as a royalty-free alternative. Now Warner Bros. is joining Samsung, Fox and Panasonic in supporting HDR10+ on its 4K video releases.

Far too close for comfort, but the Sixers score their first points of the BBL season, with Hughes and Denly starring # BBL 07. The hero: Daniel Hughes played the support role to the more aggressive Joe Denly during the early stages of the Sydney Sixers run chase

But he now intends to use those games to show his value and make sure he is picked up by BBL clubs from next season on.

"These four games are a fantastic opportunity for me and I've just got to soak it up and enjoy every minute," Denly said.

"It's a great opportunity to try to showcase my skills and hopefully get myself back out here next year."

A short-form representative for England in 2009 and 2010, Denly has played in both English and Bangladeshi Twenty20 leagues in the past year before arriving in Australia.

And it appears only a matter of time before he appears more attractive to teams in the global T20 competitions.

The 31-year-old opener finished atop the run-scorers list in last year's English county T20 competition, hitting 567 at an average of 43.61 and strike rate of 150.79 for Kent.

"It's always a new challenge going into foreign countries and experiencing new conditions," he said. "It's about training and preparing for what you're going to come up against.

"The wickets are a bit pacier, a bit more bounce (in Australia). You certainly get tested from the waste up a bit more. I quite enjoy that."
