  Scorchers stun top-placed Thunder in WBBL The Scorchers have overcame a batting masterclass from superstar Alex Blackwell to beat the WBBL ladder-leading Sydney Thunder in Perth.England allrounder Nat Sciver's unbeaten 61 and some poor Thunder bowling including an alarming 20 wides allowed the Scorchers to comfortably reel in the visitors' 4-134 with 11 balls remaining.

AUSTRALIA captain Rachael Haynes and West Indies international Stafanie Taylor lifted Sydney Thunder to an easy WBBL victory over the struggling Hobart Hurricanes and a share of top spot on the ladder.

It adds to a strong summer for the 23-year-old, who hit a century against England for a Cricket Australia XI in November.

"I've been training well," she said.

"I haven't got a lot of opportunities (for the Thunder) so far but it was good to get the win on the board.

"I was happy to get the runs on the board for the team, I was glad to get the win ... Top of the table!"

Rene Farrell and Stefanie Taylor then helped the Thunder to victory with six balls to spare, after Indian star Harmanpreet Kaur had earlier hit 27 from 23 balls.

Only seamer Sarah Aley kept the Sixers in the match, after she started her spell with two wicket maidens and later removed the dangerous Stalenberg.

Aley, who made her Australian debut aged 33 last year, finished with 3-11 from her four overs but still couldn't stop her side from dropping down to fourth on the ladder with five games to play, and only ahead of Perth on net run-rate.

"Mittsy (Aley) was one of the people we really wanted to take down a bit.

"Unfortunately she got through us. She's a great bowler, well-experienced and I think it was just about getting under their skin and getting on top."

Earlier, spinner Samantha Bates claimed 3-21 as the Sixers regularly lost wickets throughout their innings with Ellyse Perry (25) and Sara McGlashan (23) the sole batters showing a little resistance.
