Tennis great Roger Federer has spoken about Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios in a revealing interview with Nine's Erin Molan.

The world number 2 spoke about his fitness, life, kids, and the divisive Aussie firebrand in a wide-ranging interview. But when asked the question on Kyrgios, Federer gave a cheeky response.

"How much time do we have?"

"I said before the tournament any result is a good one, so long as I don't get hurt.

"It's an incredible situation now of travelling with our kids, with my wife still willing to do it.

"In my dream that I had when I was a little boy I didn't have the vision of looking up to my box and seeing four kids, and a wife, and a coach.

The Australian Open starts Monday.
