The Manchester United goalkeeper recorded 14 saves against Arsenal on Saturday, helping his side to a vital 3-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners kept De Gea busy all night and the goalkeeper responded in spectacular fashion, particularly on a stunning double save in the second half on Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez.

The 27-year-old equalled the mark that is shared by Tim Krul (Newcastle v. Spurs in Nov 2013) and Vito Mannone (Sunderland v. Chelsea in Apr 2014).

While United’s rearguard has floundered, De Gea has stayed at the top of his game . It would have seemed incomprehensible for Jose Mourinho to drop Petr Cech after his impressive 2013/14 campaign, in which he won the golden glove award for joint- most clean sheets in the Premier League (16).
