Jarrad McVeigh has celebrated the first of two milestones this week, with the AFL veteran's wife giving birth to daughter Florence on Tuesday.

McVeigh, who will play his 300th match later this week, insists there is no prospect of him missing Sydney's semi-final on Friday night against Geelong.

"We tried to put a few things in place because she was actually due next Monday, so we sped things up a little bit," he told reporters on Thursday.
