Comment: Warner should be dropped if Australia tour Bangladesh

Comment: Warner should be dropped if Australia tour Bangladesh David Warner should be dropped from the Australian team if the two-Test tour of Bangladesh goes ahead this August and September. While Warner is an automatic choice for this summer’s Ashes on his favoured home pitches, he has become a liability on the road, averaging just 23 with the bat across his past three Test tours, in India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. If Australia keep the horses-for-courses selection strategy, which saw in-form batsman Usman Khawaja dropped for the Tests in India because of his poor record in Sri Lanka, Warner should not be chosen to play in Bangladesh.

David Warner about to return Basil Thampi's shoe.

Has David Warner’s new approach to life and cricket come so far that he is now acting in the role of peace-maker?

After the bad blood between the Australian and Indian teams in the recent Test series, it was perhaps prudent that Warner extend an olive branch to an Indian player during the Indian Premier League competition.

Warner was finding the going so easy during his match-winning partnership with fellow Australian Moises Henriques for Sunrisers Hyderabad that he had time to stop and give a bowler his show back in the middle of completing a run.

IPL 2017: Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner continues poor run in India

IPL 2017: Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner continues poor run in India David Warner’s ordinary run in India continued with another tame dismissal in the opening match of the IPL between his side Hyderabad and Bangalore. The left-handed opener, who is captaining Sunrisers Hyderabad here, had a poor run during the India Tests, managing just one half-century in eight innings.

Warner was all praise for Yuvraj, who played a swashbuckling 62-run knock to help Sunrisers beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 35 runs in the IPL 2017 By PTI | Updated: Apr 06, 2017, 12.58 PM IST. David Warner hailed the entire Sunrisers team for putting up a fantastic performance yesterday.

Sunrisers skipper David Warner praised Rashid Khan to the hilt, hailing him as a ‘fantastic prospect’. Warner was also full of praise of Yuvraj Singh who cracked his fastest IPL century in 23 balls.

Gujarat Lions bowler Basil Thampi (who didn’t play for India in their recent Test series win over Australia) created the opportunity for Warner to complete his good deed when he lost a shoe while bowling to Henriques.

Henriques hit the ball to long-on and the batsmen set off for a comfortable single. It was so comfortable that Warner had time to stop and retrieve Thampi’s boot.

Obviously he wouldn’t have made the nice gesture if time was an issue, but his actions still won over the fans.

Warner was a winner again later on when he scored an unbeaten 76 to guide the Sunrisers to a nine-wicket victory.
