The former Alaskan governor and vice presidential nominee took to Facebook early on Wednesday morning to say she was "duped" by the comedian behind the satirical films Borat and Bruno.

"I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitative, sick humour of the British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen," she wrote.

"Go ahead, air the footage," Palin wrote. "Experience tells us it will be heavily edited, not pretty and intended to humiliate.

"Mock politicians and innocent public personalities all you want if that lets you sleep at night. But how dare you mock those who have fought and served our country. Truly sick."

Palin then added that Cohen's production team "purposefully" dropped her and her daughter off at the wrong Washington airport. As a result, she said missed her flight back home.

"I wrote this off as yet another example of the sick nature that is media-slash-entertainment today," she wrote.

Baron Cohen has been developing a TV show over the past 12 months called Who Is America? The half-hour series is expected to take aim at US President Donald Trump and American politics more generally.

Who Is America? will make its Australian debut on Stan from 3pm on Sunday, July 15.
