Like Katie Hopkins, Piers Morgan is someone who doesn’t know when to close his mouth.

The journalist is constantly making controversial comments over one thing or another, but we think he might have met his match with Corrie star Nicola Thorp.

The actress, who plays Nicola Rubinstein on the soap, debated Piers on Good Morning Britain this week over sexism on the red carpet, and she definitely gave him a good fight.

Nicola spoke openly on the show about her experience on the red carpet and how women’s fashion choices are heavily debated in the media.

Arguing with Piers Morgan about sexism is always going to be a challenge. I don’t agree with much @ piersmorgan says but that sexism debate on @GMB was pathetic. ‘Women are constantly being told they’re looking too sexy, too revealing,’ she said, adding: ‘the photographs of women and the photographs of men on red carpets are reported about much differently.’

Piers co-host Suzanna Reid agreed with Nicola, saying: ‘One of the things that women on the red carpet feel, is that whatever they wear they’re going to be over analysed.’

Morgan and Good Morning Britain’s other guest News Of The World editor, Neil Wallis, weren’t keen to hear the women’s opinions and tried to shut them both down by saying: ‘Don’t go on the red carpet then.’

Nicola is well-versed in the topic of sexism and has spoken in front of the Parliamentary Select Committee about the problems women face when it comes to sexism and female grooming.

While her comments were completely shut down by Piers on the morning show, it did stop her from continuing to debate the topic on Twitter following the show.

She tweeted shortly after her time on Good Morning Britain saying: ‘This isn’t even a debate. It’s a fact. Sexism exists in red carpet reporting. And on twitter. Watch the clip and read the comments (if you dare).’

She went on to say: ‘And whilst I’m at it…I had a photographer follow me to my car trying his damn best to get a photo of a ‘nip slip’ as I put on my seatbelt. What world is this where a person makes cash from photographing a body part that a man can show and no one gives a toss? #timesup’

So do you agree with Piers and think that women who don’t want to be seen as ‘flaunting’ themselves should stay off the red carpet? Or, should coverage of red carpet fashion change?
