Love Island Australia's Edyn 'Mac' Mackney lived with an eating disorder before making her reality TV debut on Sunday night.

In a Youtube video shared by the 22-year-old, Mac -- who was a model between the ages of 15 and 18 -- explains that the industry caused her to develop an eating disorder.

"Every single time I'd go see my agency [they would tell me] 'you need to slim down your hips and your legs'. [They were] constantly telling me I wasn't good enough to be a model," she says.

Mac says she was being told to go for two hour walks every single morning. 

"I had so many blisters on my feet for doing that," she explains in the vlog. "I was told I wasn't allowed to run, do any weights of anything that would put any impact on my leg because they didn't want any muscle definition."

"The advice I was getting from the modelling industry led me to eating disorders," Mac continues. "I started off with anorexia. I wanted to get as skinny as I possibly could as quick as I possibly could and if that meant having a carrot for dinner every week then I was going to do that."

Eventually, after visiting her agent one last time, Mac decided enough was enough.

"He said 'your hips and your legs are still too big. You need to lean them down,'" she recalls. "And he said 'call me when you have lost more weight', and I said 'OK bye.'

"I walked out of there and decided modelling wasn't going to be worth it for me anymore."
