She was reportedly found dead in her New York City apartment by suicide. The sad news leaves the industry and Kate Spade fans in mourning, with many taking to Twitter to share the influence Spade has had on both the trade and their personal styles. Fashion designer Liz Lange talked about how Spade was "the nicest woman" and acted as her advisor as she took her start in the industry with her maternity brand.

David Spade has taken to his social networking sites to remember his sister - in - law Kate Spade after she was found dead at her home in NY this week in a suspected suicide . Roldan is pursuing a career in fashion and said Spade mentored him .

'Thank you for coming, it was a rough week, but I didn't want to cancel and I appreciate you all coming out here,' he told the crowd at the Brea Improv according to E!Online.

The comedian told the southern California crowd that, 'if my jokes don't work then I get sort of a free pass.'

People in the audience said that the comedian's mood seemed to get better and better as the show went on, and the crowd was reportedly laughing and clapping through the whole show.

Kate Spade was sister - in - law to actor, comedian, and Saturday Night Live veteran David Spade . "We would ask that our privacy be respected as we grieve during this very hard time", the statement, as reported by The New York Times, read.

Spade shared another photo of his late sister - in - law on Twitter this time. The image showed Kate wearing a green headscarf and standing by supportively as David autographed a book at one of his book signings.

'Thank you for coming out, I appreciate it,' he told the crowd as he wrapped up. 

He's scheduled to do two shows on Saturday night.
