Distraught David Spade has paid tribute to his “funny” sister-in-law Kate after she took her own life.

David, whose older brother Andy was married to the fashion designer, posted a picture of Kate with him at a book signing.

The 53-year-old wrote in the caption: ‘Katy at my book signing.

‘I love this pic of her. So pretty. I don’t think everyone knew how f------ funny she was… It’s a rough world out there people. Try to hang on.’

David later wrote on Instagram: ‘She was so sharp and quick on her feet. She could make me laugh so hard. I still can't believe it.’

Law enforcement officials have ruled Kate’s death a suicide.

David’s brother and Kate’s husband of 24 years, Andy, was reportedly at the family’s home at the time of the tragedy.

Distraught loved ones of the designer released a statement that read: ‘We are all devastated by today’s tragedy. We loved Kate dearly and will miss her terribly. A note was reportedly found, addressed to the couple’s daughter.

Kate and husband Andy launched the trendy upscale fashion line in January 1993.

The Kate Spade New York brand started out as a handbag line but expanded in following into clothing and accessories.

Andy also launched a men’s bag collection, Jack Spade, in 1996. The men’s brand is currently sold at high-end shops such as Barneys.
