Gilbert's The Talk co-hosts, Sheryl Underwood and Julie Chen, praised her for taking a stance against racism, as did the audience, who broke out in applause.

"As a black woman who is a comedienne… I'm happy to see that it was done swiftly," said Underwood, while Chen agreed, "Cancelling the show so quickly sent a strong message and the right message."

While Roseanne is now on the cutting room floor, we may not have seen the last of Gilbert’s character Darlene. Last Friday, TMZ reported that there was a possibility ABC would be "rebranding the show" and focusing it on no-holds-barred single mum Darlene, rather than Roseanne.
