On Monday's Loose Women, Jane revealed that Barbara forgot that she and husband Scott Mitchell made her battle with Alzheimer’s public.

'So one of Scott's issues has he discussed it with her and her specialist about going public because it was going to make their life easier,' she explained. 'So when she did see the response she was overwhelmed and got a bit tearful because I guess she had almost forgotten it was going to happen.'

However, revealing the actress is filled with joy when she sees the well-wishes from fans, she added: 'Every time Scott shows them to her, she just gets so thrilled and keeps saying, "I'm helping people".'

She also touched upon how husband Scott feels like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders, now the news is out in the open.

'He is hugely relieved I think,' she said. 'He got very very upset because it was that combination of being a release and he felt guilty because his whole instinct is to protect her.

'She's not actually been out since the story broke but he has and people are stopping him, and when she does go out he knows everyone will give her a collective hug.'
