Singer Fergie is opening up on her past drug use. In the early 2000s, Fergie became addicted to crystal meth . She told the UK's iNews, “ I was [suffering from] chemically induced psychosis and dementia. I was hallucinating on a daily basis.”

Fergie opened up about her struggles with crystal meth addiction. "At my lowest point, I was [suffering from] chemically induced psychosis and dementia," she revealed. " I was hallucinating on a daily basis.

Fergie has talked about her addiction to crystal meth in the early ‘00s and how the drug made her paranoid and saw her weight plummet to a tiny 40 kilos.

“I was hallucinating on a daily basis. It took a year after getting after that drug for the chemicals in my brain to settle so that I stopped seeing things,” the 42-year-old told the U.K.’s iNews on Thursday, (December 7). “I’d just be sitting there, seeing a random bee or bunny.”

At the height of her addiction Fergie's psychosis was so intense she once ran into a church after fearing the FBI was after her.

“They tried to kick me out, because I was moving down the aisles in this crazy way, as I thought there was an infrared camera i the church trying to check for my body,” Fergie recalled. “I bolted past the altar into a hallway and two people were chasing me. I remember thinking: ‘If I walk outside, and the SWAT team’s out there, I was right all along. But if they’re not out there, then it’s the drugs making me see things and I’m going to end up in an institution. And if it really is the drugs, I don’t want to live my life like this anymore, anyway.’”

"It’s incredible," she said. "I must have guardian angels."

After being clean for more than 14-years Fergie says: "The drugs thing, it was a hell of a lot of fun… until it wasn't...I thank the day it happened to me. Because that's my strength, my faith, my hope for something better."

The former Black-Eyed Peas singer has been out promoting her new solo album, Double Duchess, her first since splitting from her husband of eight-years, Josh Duhamel in September.

The pair are co-parenting their 4-year-old son Axel and Fergie says technology has made it a little easier to keep their family in touch.

"Thank the Lord for FaceTime!," she said. "Because both Josh and I are working full-time right now. If you're a full-time working parent, you’ll know what we're experiencing.

'It gets tough and we get tired, but we're trying our hardest to make sure that kid feels nothing around him but love."
