Shane Jacobson threw out the rule book for his new TV show.

"There's an old cliche 'don't work with kids or animals' and we made a show that does nothing but welcome that. This is where you bring them, that's us," the actor said.

On Little Big Shots, children get to showcase their unusual talents and, unlike other TV talent shows, there are no judges.

"On our show, yes people come on who can sing and dance, but our show celebrates kids that have, not only a special talent, but a special trick or skill set or a thing that they're amazing at," Jacobson said.

It’s simply about embracing what it means to be young, fun and free. Children will take to the stage to showcase their passion.

The show is unpredictable, every child who comes on the show has a talent not limited to the usual song and dance routines but expanded to include, well, pretty much anything.

"There is no way I can say to you 'well if you watch the show you're going to get this.' We've got kids that have talent, skill sets, a hobby that's gone, in some people's eyes maybe too far, but in our eyes it's gone fantastically for them, it's what they do now, it's their thing," he said.

The children who star on the show get time to chat with Jacobson, making for some of the most unpredictable and entertaining moments.

And Shane Jacobson has had plenty of highlights through his entertainment career, including working alongside Shane , who is a father-of-four and partner of Felicity Hunter, will also be hosting Channel Seven's upcoming kids variety show Little Big Shots . 'Why don't you just take a picture together!'

Funnyman Shane Jacobson believes his next project will break the mould when it comes to children-themed reality TV. But Jacobson is confident Little Big Shots can break the mould thanks to the show's freestyle format.

"When you sit and have a chat with them you've no idea what you're going to get and honestly it could go anywhere, and that's the idea of the show," he said.

"They can say whatever they want because it's a show for kids."

The idea of the show comes from a slot on the Ellen Degeneres chat show in the US where children showed off their unusual talents. Last year, the segment was expanded to create a show all of its own, Little Big Shots which airs on NBC in the US and is hosted by Steve Harvey.

"In the American one they had a girl who came on the show whose best friend was a duck ... there are young kids who have incredible sporting abilities, it could be archery it could be music, it can be music and dancing but there are kids that have incredible flexibility or who have amazing minds - kids who have incredible photographic memories," he said.

What Jacobson saw was a show that celebrates children who wouldn't necessarily get a chance to show what they can do on traditional talent shows.

"There's not many other formats for some of the skill sets. Some kids will have incredible memories, have memorised history and things that will blow your mind. At the age of six they'll be able to tell you stuff that you will not remember," he said.

"They're not going to end up on other shows because that's not a spelling bee, it's not dancing. We are an open book that welcomes kids because it's not a competition."
