PITTSBURGH — Former “ Dance Moms ” reality TV star Abby Lee Miller was sentenced Tuesday to a year and a day in prison for hiding 5,000 worth of income and bringing 0,000 worth of Australian currency It’s really about what anyone who’s going to commit bankruptcy fraud ” will face.

(AP) — A federal judge in Pittsburgh has sentenced former “ Dance Moms ” reality TV star Abby Lee Miller to a year and a day in prison for bankruptcy fraud and bringing 0,000 worth of Australian currency into the country without reporting it.

Abby Lee Miller, who starred in the reality series Dance Moms, has been sentenced to one year and one day in prison for bankruptcy fraud, Deadline reports. Abby, 50, plead guilty to fraud charges last year.

A federal judge in Pittsburgh handed down the sentence on Wednesday. Abby was also ordered to pay a $40,000 fine plus an additional $120,000 stemming from a currency-reporting violation authorities uncovered last summer.

Taking the stand to defend herself, Abby was quoted as saying, "Dance Moms became a hit and I became the laughingstock of reality TV."

Abby was best known as the hard-nosed instructor on Dance Moms and eventually was given her own spinoff series, Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition. She notably trained teen dancer Maddie Ziegler, who went to star in numerous music videos for pop singer Sia.

Abby initially filed for bankruptcy in 2010. In 2015, she was indicted on 20 counts of bankruptcy fraud, concealment of bankruptcy assets, and false bankruptcy declarations. Authorities discovered evidence that she tried to conceal $775,000 in income from Dance Moms, her spinoff series, and other franchise-related businesses.

She is expected to serve nine months in a Los Angeles-area facility and two years of supervised release. The former reality TV star has 45 days to report to prison.

Abby recently made headlines by undergoing a weight-loss surgery procedure before her sentencing. Entertainment Tonight interviewed Abby on the day of the procedure in April, and asked if she was worried about spending time in prison.

"I'm not a real physical person so... you know... we'll see," she said. "There's no sense. People ask me, 'Aren't you worried, aren't you this, aren't you that?' I can't think about it. I have to live every day."

"I just don't want to fight anymore, I have, like, this much fight in me left. I don't want to do it anymore, just save my tears for the pillow."
