How he got to Banksmeadow and how he got inside the high-security facility is not clear.

Kennedy's lawyer Paul McGirr today told Waverley Court that when his client was spoken to by police, he said he did not know "where he was and how and why he got there".

Kennedy blamed the incident on a combination of alcohol and painkillers.

He also told police he used a brick to smash the window of a car parked in the facility because he was cold and he was trying to stay warm.

Kennedy escaped conviction, instead being placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond.

"Mr Kennedy's happy that it's all over and the magistrate saw it for what it was," Mr McGirr said.
