A British man who was working as a resort ski instructor in the NSW Snowy Mountains remains behind bars over an alleged sexual attack on a woman and an assault on her male friend.

Matthew James Williams, 28, was arrested at a Jindabyne unit on Tuesday near where the attack took place last week.

He appeared in Queanbeyan Local Court on Wednesday on charges of aggravated sexual assault, causing grievous bodily harm, assault and cannabis possession.

Williams, who was working at Perisher Ski Resort, allegedly punched the man unconscious and physically and sexually assaulted the woman.

The pair from NSW were treated by paramedics for facial injuries before being taken to hospital.

Investigators believe Williams acted alone.

Williams' online biography, which is no longer on the resort's website, listed him as a "Program Leader".

The bio noted Williams has generated "quite the following over the years" since beginning work at the resort's ski school in 2013 and moving into their race department.

It also said he was certified to coach in Canada.

The resort said it would co-operate with investigators.

"Perisher is deeply saddened to hear about the tragic attack in Jindabyne and we are co-operating fully with police in their investigation," a spokesman told AAP.

Williams did not apply for bail on Wednesday and it was formally refused. He is expected to return to court on July 26.

A British High Commission spokeswoman told AAP they are assisting a UK man arrested in Jindabyne on July 10.
