A former One Nation media advisor has pleaded not guilty to raping and assaulting a woman more than a decade ago.

Today, Sean David Black sat in the dock with his arms crossed after he denied the charges during day one of his trial in the Brisbane District Court.

The charges, including three counts of unlawful assault and one count of rape, all relate to a woman known to him more than a decade ago.

Prosecutor Brendon White told the jury the woman suffered bruising and soft tissue injuries from the assaults, telling them they will hear evidence in the trial that shows she was pushed down a flight of stairs and had her fingers slammed in a door.

Mr White mentioned to the court on another occasion, Black also raped the woman, and called her a "drama queen" when she questioned him about the alleged attack.

Black was first arrested in May 2017.

He's the former media advisor of dumped One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts, and previously was appointed councillor of Logan City Council.

The trial is expected to run for the week, with more than 10 witnesses likely to be called.
