Former Sydney Swans star Barry Hall has been sacked by Triple M over a crude comment made during the radio station's Friday night broadcast.

We've known each other for so long Your heart's been aching, but You 're too shy to say it Inside, we both know what's been going on We know the game and we're gonna play it. And if you ask me how I'm feeling Don't tell me you 're too blind to see.

‘Re: barry hall ’s comment : I hear men say this or similar at work quite often (I am a midwife). Another said : ‘Been a listener for 15 years. That comment by Barry Hall was the most outrageously offensive thing I’ve heard in pre-game in a long time.

When Barry Hall was dumped last night from Triple M’s football pre-match program for making a disgusting comment about a procedure related to giving birth, during a chat with former Saints player Leigh Montagna, who is an expectant father, most of us cringed.

Most of us also applaud Triple M for taking immediate action.

9Honey has chosen not to publish the vile quote, which revolved around a 'joke' that a birth-related procedure performed by doctors is sexually inappropriate.

Let’s just say the gross 'joke' is something pregnant women, and midwives, have been hearing since…forever. Or at least variations of the same 'joke'.

Hall's emotional plea following crude remarks

Hall's emotional plea following crude remarks Sacked AFL commentator Barry Hall has broken his silence following the crude comments during Triple M's Friday night football coverage last night.Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Hall said he hoped that Australians would forgive him for his vulgar remarks made during last night’s AFL pre-game show.

Barry Hall (pictured) has been sacked by Triple M for inappropriate comments made on air . Channel 7 AFL commentator Sam Lane took to social media to say she was 'shocked, disgusted and deeply dismayed' by Hall 's comments .

That comment by Barry Hall was the most outrageously offensive thing I've heard in a pre-game in a long time. Shameful. Embarrassing. Whatever Barry Hall said must have been extreme to get the sack on the spot from @triplemfooty.

In fact, a midwife wrote on social media, "I hear men say this or similar at work quite often.

"It is just as inappropriate in context as out of. Glad he’s been sacked. Maybe people who think this is okay will take notice."

Others are venting on social media about how 'repulsive,' 'shameful' and 'embarrassing' Hall's comment was.

'Have you read my statement?' Barry Hall death stares a reporter before giving a paid speech at a country footy club – just hours after being sacked over his filthy comments on live radio

'Have you read my statement?' Barry Hall death stares a reporter before giving a paid speech at a country footy club – just hours after being sacked over his filthy comments on live radio Barry Hall has refused to repeat an apology for vulgar comments he made on live radio when confronted outside a South Australian country football club where he was giving a paid speech. Just hours after his sacking from radio station Triple M over the comments, Hall appeared at the Eudunda Robertstown Football Club in South Australia to give a speech to about 100 people. Hall earlier broke his silence and apologised for the the vile comments he made on live radio about his fellow panellist's heavily pregnant wife.

AFL great Barry Hall was immediately sacked by FM radio network Triple M following remarks made on - air . Have heard what Barry Hall said and have chosen not to repeat it either on twitter or in our article. I’m sorry but it’s utterly disgusting .

Nine things we learned. Team of the Week. In the Mix. Barry Hall has enjoyed a high media profile. FORMER AFL star Barry Hall has been sacked by Triple M radio after an inappropriate comment on air .

"I’ve just been told what Barry Hall said...good luck reporters being able to even report it other than a 'highly inappropriate comment'," one user said.

Yes, it's not easy reporting on a disgusting comment without quoting it but, just trust me on this one - it was truly vile.

My favourite tweet so far: "When you’re lining up for a swing at how terrible political correctness is then someone tells you what Barry Hall actually said".

So here's an initial question for Barry: Why on earth did you say it?

Did you think for even a nano-second before you opened your mouth that you were about to unleash a s***storm?

Would your partner or any of the women in your life be happy to hear your foul words?

No, they're likely to be as horrified as every other woman who knows what you said.

You had one job. All you were hired to do was talk about football.

Another question: What kind of publicist or PR rep do you have? Surely your people media train you in some way?

'He has an absolute heart of gold': Hi-5 singer Lauren Brant DEFENDS partner Barry Hall's vulgar remarks about a footy star's pregnant wife and claims it was simply 'a throwaway comment'

'He has an absolute heart of gold': Hi-5 singer Lauren Brant DEFENDS partner Barry Hall's vulgar remarks about a footy star's pregnant wife and claims it was simply 'a throwaway comment' Barry Hall's girlfriend Lauren Brant has come out and defended the former footy player after he made vulgar comments about another player's pregnant wife on live radio. Lauren Brant, former star of children's television show Hi-5, defended her partner saying, 'I want people to know that Barry has an absolute heart of gold.''He is the most adoring partner, loving and proud father, and would never want to offend any person, especially women. I say that as an empowered female myself,' Ms Brant told The Herald Sun.

Sadly, one salty comment can ruin the mood. If even you had a terrible commute or woke up on the wrong side of your bagel sandwich, avoid saying these phrases in a group setting. If you say you understand someone, then totally disagree with everything they say , it's going to lead to a argument.

“The commentator was removed immediately from the broadcast and an apology was issued on air afterwards.'' Have heard what Barry Hall said and have chosen not to repeat it either on twitter or in our article. I’m sorry but it’s utterly disgusting .

Don't they ever tell you not to make disgusting, offensive and vile 'jokes' on air? Has somebody failed you?

It is not that difficult to avoid a media s***storm, let alone a sacking.

There is a long list of things you just DON'T say, even if your only defence is 'It was just a joke!'

For starters - don’t insult women (especially pregnant women) and don’t say anything sexually inappropriate.

If there's a joke you wouldn't say in front of your parents, then please don't say it on national radio.

There will be people who say it was just 'light banter' and 'freedom of speech'.

But one thing is for sure Barry’s comments, about the wife of a colleague - and the other panellists laughed with him - was all about sexual assault which must never be a laughing matter.

Can they register that simple, yet highly important information?

If some men think it is okay to make such a disgusting comment on air – God knows what they say in private.

Maybe, just maybe the only positive that will come out of this is the AFL will line up even more 'respect for women' matches in a bid to change what has been described as a misogynistic culture.

And maybe, just maybe, the next time a man thinks it's 'funny' to joke about child birth in the context of a doctor being sexually inappropriate, remember Barry.

Also, remember this simple rule: if you can't say it out loud at a family BBQ, then don't say it on air.

'Awful': Damian Barrett opens up about Barry Hall controversy .
