A Vaucluse man has been charged over an alleged international drug importation ring conducted via the "dark web" that police claim has brought millions of dollars worth of illicit drugs into Australia.

About 10.30am on Thursday, strike force investigators arrested the 33-year-old man on Diamond Bay Road in Vaucluse.

Officers raided a Diamond Bay Road unit, seizing cocaine, computers, mobile phones, a diamond ring, $70,000 cash and $350,000 worth of cryptocurrency.

A second search warrant was later executed at a financial institution in the city and documents were seized.

The accused man was refused police bail and is due to face court on Friday charged with 45 counts of importing commercial quantities of border controlled drugs, supplying a commercial quantity of prohibited drugs, directing a criminal group and recklessly deal in the proceeds of crime.
