  Turnbull's Liberal Party donations exceed wage Malcolm Turnbull donated more money to the Liberal party last year than he has earned as Prime Minister. Annual financial disclosure documents published this morning confirmed Mr Turnbull as the largest individual donor, giving $1.75 million to the party he leads.Since taking office in September 2015, the Prime Minister has been paid roughly $1.26 million plus allowances, according to the independent remuneration tribunal’s figures.Mr Turnbull had previously donated to the party, with party officials describing the latest donation as “very generous” and “critical to the campaign”.

As NSW state delegates prepare to vote on significant party reform at the Liberal AGM on Saturday, the Prime Minister told Sydney's Town Hall it must empower its grassroots. During his speech to the AGM, Mr Turnbull also said the party must preselect more women into safe and winnable seats.

As NSW state delegates prepare to vote on significant party reform at the Liberal AGM on Saturday, the Prime Minister told Sydney's Town Hall it must empower its grassroots.

"The best way to attract people is to give them a say in how the party is run," Mr Turnbull said to applause.

While the Warringah Motion - a plan by former Prime Minister Tony Abbott to give all party members preselection votes in their respective seats - is likely to get voted down at the AGM, a more moderate compromise may be agreed on.
