  Court tribute for ex-judge found in pool Family Court Chief Justice Diana Bryant has paid tribute to former judge Richard Gee, who died after being pulled from a backyard pool in Sydney.NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to Mr Gee's Belrose home in northeast Sydney at about 10pm on Monday, but the 83-year-old died at the scene.

The matriarch of a family bludgeoned to death has wailed and declared her son avenged after their killer Robert Xie was convicted of murder.

Feng Qin Zhu and her husband clutched photos of their family outside court calling for harsh punishment for the "evil murderer" after their son-in-law was found guilty of killing their son Min Lin and four other family members.

"My son has been avenged," she said outside court in Mandarin.

On the eighth day of deliberations, a NSW Supreme Court jury on Thursday found Xie, 53, used a hammer-like object to inflict horrific head injuries on his newsagent brother-in-law Min Lin, 45; his wife Lily Lin, 43; her sister Irene, 39; and the Lins' two sons, Henry, 12, and Terry, nine at their North Epping home in July, 2009.

"To punish the murderer really harshly in order to get back justice," writing on the picture of the dead boys said, according to a translation.

"To commemorate very kind relatives, to punish harshly the evil murderer," said writing on pictures of the adult victims.

But Xie maintained his innocence, while his wife Kathy, Min Lin's sister, broke down in tears.

"I did not murder the Lin family," Xie protested as the jury left the court.

"I am innocent."

The verdicts come after Xie faced four trials and almost five years on remand in jail after the killings.

Two of the trials were aborted and one resulted in a hung jury.

Sentencing submissions are expected on February 10.
