'Dromana Holiday Village cabins is in a badly situation area' © Nine News 'Dromana Holiday Village cabins is in a badly situation area' A child has been pulled to safety following a serious head-on crash near the Nepean Highway in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.

Witness reported hearing a “huge explosion” as a car and a four-wheel-drive collided on Collins Road, near the Dromana Holiday Village just after 6pm.

Holiday-maker, Frank Caccamo, said his daughter Melissa was nearby and quickly drove outside to the scene.

“Her and another woman pulled the baby out first, fearing a fire might erupt” Mr Caccamo told

“(They) passed the baby across to the other man and woman who also arrived on scene.”

The child, who is believed to be pre-school aged, has since been taken to Frankston Hospital but is understood to be uninjured.

Police said a woman was trapped in the wreckage for a “period of time” and has been airlifted to a hospital in Melbourne in a serious condition, while a man in his 30s was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition with a suspected arm injury.

“Dromana Holiday Village cabins is in a badly situation area,” Mr Caccamo said.

“To memory, there are fences or trees that don’t give a chance to see on coming vehicles very well.”
