Witness reported hearing a “huge explosion” as a car and a four-wheel-drive collided on Collins Road, near the Dromana Holiday Village just after 6pm.

Holiday-maker, Frank Caccamo, said his daughter Melissa was nearby and quickly drove outside to the scene.

“Her and another woman pulled the baby out first, fearing a fire might erupt” Mr Caccamo told 9news.com.au.

“(They) passed the baby across to the other man and woman who also arrived on scene.”

The child, who is believed to be pre-school aged, has since been taken to Frankston Hospital but is understood to be uninjured.

Police said a woman was trapped in the wreckage for a “period of time” and has been airlifted to a hospital in Melbourne in a serious condition, while a man in his 30s was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition with a suspected arm injury.

“Dromana Holiday Village cabins is in a badly situation area,” Mr Caccamo said.
