While the U . S . is notorious for its beauty-obsessed culture, the country doesn't take the top plastic surgery spot in the world by percentage of population. More than 44, 000 double eyelid surgeries were performed in 2010.

The fountain of youth comes with a price, and cosmetic enhancement is expensive, so with over 30, 000 plastic surgeons performing 17 million plastic surgeries around the world each year , it makes sense to travel to a country where beautification is less cost-prohibitive (and more unique)

'I got filler in my cheeks, lips and under my eyes,' Jewel has told Women's Day.

The 35-year-old mother first got cosmetic surgery as a confidence boost after her messy divorce.

Since then she has had countless appointments from lip fillers and botox, to more extreme procedures including liposuction and even a boob job.

Yet after her debut on reality TV, Tracey decided to get a dramatic transformation - reversing her $9,000 worth of facial procedures.

'He's (cosmetic surgeon) dissolved all my fillers and it feels amazing.

'My lips are more liberated and I feel like I've got my eyes back, now the puffiness has gone,' Tracey said.

The cosmetic surgery industry has recently come under attack over the interchangeable use of the phrases 'plastic surgeon' and 'cosmetic surgeon'.

Despite most Australians not knowing the difference, the two types of surgeons are very different in terms of their accreditation.

While a plastic surgeon is a doctor who has trained to perform cosmetic procedures, a cosmetic surgeon refers to anyone who has received a basic medical degree in university.

No specific surgical training is required to be given the title as a cosmetic surgeon which has medical experts worried about unlicensed procedures being performed on unsuspecting patients.

Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery - Australia's peak body for cosmetic surgeons has recently called on the government to restrict who can perform cosmetic procedures.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard says he intends to restrict the use of the title 'cosmetic surgeon' in a crackdown on patients being misled and abused to botched procedures.

He has previously said the crackdown would focus on doctors who 'dressed themselves up as cosmetic surgeons' without the proper qualifications, SMH reports.

NSW Health has recently finalised a review on the regulation of cosmetic procedures in the state.

It comes after the death of a woman who underwent a non-surgical breast augmentation procedure at a beauty clinic in inner-Sydney late last year.
